Your first mistake was to comprimise yourself by allowing him to pay less. You basically accepted fault and now left yourself open for him to screw with you. Balances in cash, IN FULL, please. Take him to court and at least get what little you have coming to you back. Also, sorry to piss some of you off, but wives dont take things in, the person running the shop should, in all fairness to everyone. Theyll come back.

  2. What a jerk for doing that. Like Jennifer said, violence.

Also Bill I agree, I don't let my husband check stuff in if I'm not there. I've shown him how to inspect stuff and he knows what questions I always ask, but I'm just too paranoid that he will be a nice guy and take someone's word that it isn't too short, or isn't slipping, or whatever, and then I'd be stuck having to call the guy later and explain why he needs a new cape or why I can't mount his bobcat. They'll always think it's your fault and that it was fine when they dropped it off.

First of all I would nerver take less than what im owed ,check cc, or cash, second it sounds like you let him bully you into thinking you made a mistake , I would definetly take him to task or look him up and put my foot in his a$$

Don, in his eyes you may have admitted your mistake by giving him a discount.

My husband nor son take anything in any more. I had a guy come in with three ducks and just told my son he would get back with me later. I called him for 2 days and had to leave messages. I then went to his place of business on the third day and left them with his secretary. He called me that day at noon and apologized. I told him that the Feds frown on that kind of busines and I wasn't going to loose my license because he didn't have time to wait or come back. H eis still a customer and that was 4 years ago.

POS customers like that don"t respect taxidermy as a business that we do to make a living. Go get your money from that piece of crap and be rid of him.

When people come in I have a work order/contract for each specimen. In there, the particulars of the specimen are described in detail including points, spread, nose to tips and other measurements. That way it would be nearly impossible to have a mix up in what they instruct me to do. The contract spells out all the particulars and says how much it will cost them if checks bounce or checks or charges are stopped. I had it tested in court once and it was very costly for the customer. I do take cash, check or credit card and feel comfortable with any of them for final payment. I'd guess that at least 75% of my business is now credit cards and if you are not taking CCs then you are surely loosing business. I've had a few checks bounce, but they were just mistakes that were covered quickly.

You know I was a auto mechanic for many years and i think i have had almost every scam or rouse used to try and get out of payment for services rendered. I think the customers that try this are first a coward to do such a thing like stop payment or maybe they think that they are some how better than you , they must think this if they think that your work is good but that you're not worth paying you for it. I see no difference in this type of thief and one that comes in the night only the method of removal is different, it shows a great lack of respect to you to do this. that having been said you have to know how to handle this situation without letting it get to you and separating you from your sanity IT CAN HAPPEN. In the long run if it turns out you don't get your just do don't let it get to you like some one posted earlier "he will get what is coming to him" the old saying goes "ain't karma a bit(H". Remember we are commanded "we must forgive every, one God will forgive who HE will" good luck.
