Here is a Permit blank it was about a 12.5 lb permit I chose A New wave blank. They do not offer the time saver any more just basic prep and finished fish. I got the blank within a short amount of time and it was packaged properly. The blank number is 2531 I had to grind the seams and cut the pect and pelvic fins out to include the spines in front of the dorsal fin. More time on the fish itself for sem fill and grinding. I decide since this is a small mouthed fish to save myself the 35 bucks for their mouth piece and made my own. The overall quality of the the blank was good with no major problems othe than your normal fill in the seam areas.

Here is how I made the mouth piece since it is open I decided to fill it with foam. You need to make a cup fig 1 and 2 shows I used a piece of zip lock bag, Fig 3 I taped the bag inside the mouth to form a pocket to catch the foam from going all the way down inside the fish. Fig 4 I poured the foam I made two pours I did not want the foam overfilowing too much. Fig 5 shows the foam overflow and fig 6 dremel out. Then I rasped to shape the tongue and gill rakers. Final, for big fish I brush 5 minute epoxey over the foam for this fish I smoothed sculpt all over it. To Make the vermicullan teeth on the lips I laid bondo on them and tapped with a wire brush to shape them turned out nice. Sorry about the focus problems but used a littlle throw away camera but you get the idea.

This is a pic of the finished fish it does not show the translucent colors on it.
  6. Here is a 50 inch King Salmon with a 27" girth from Lake Country, Very nice
  7. Heres Fishermans Tale only striper they have. It is an awesome blank. Great detail, little seam work and a pleasure to work on as well. I believe the measurements were 52" L x 32" G.
  8. Travis what is the number on that blank?
  9. The # on it is SB-01. Its the only striper he has but its great.
  10. This is # WE-03 from Fishermans Tale also. Its rated at 12lbs. This also was a blast to work with. Very little seam work. The only thing really needed is teeth but to me there fun the make.
  11. Here are a few more replicas that Dave at Fisherman's Tale asked me to post for him.
As of now they are not on his website so you will need to call for more details.

    A Cutthroat trout 15"

    A White sucker 18"

    A Rainbow trout 19.5"

    Sturgeon 46"

    Pike minnow

They all look very nice, and some are rather odd fish. he has molds for many more oddball species that he has yet to photograph.
  12. Hey Josh I have that same rainbow here in my shop. I'm just getting started on the paint. Its a great blank. I may order that sauger too. I love those fish.

Here's a Wynia blg 10.0-3 ( Van Dyke #306877) shrink wrap with bubble wrap .On sale from their spring catalog. Though the captions wording made me think it was open mouth, it was closed but no biggie. Fine detail and easy prep.
  18. Two Perch that Dave at Fisherman's Tale sent me to put up here.

    Nice chunky looking Perch!
