Raush looks like your boy got a spruce.... not a "ruffed"......some nice bucks guys....... woulld love to shoot some hogs ... big or small ....any recomendations ????? would trade a coule days of bird work for a couple days of hogging
The picture does make it look like a spruce but it was a ruffed. It was this years chick and not fully feathered out yet. The combination of that and a duck load out of his 20 GA made it not very pretty when it fell.

You could very well be right. I'm no expert on them for sure. I've shot a lot of ruffeds in that area so I didn't think twice about it.

My 10 year old and his first lion! He's starting to figure out that sometimes hunts are challenging but worth it. We climbed 650' of elevation in 450 yards in 30+ inches of snow to get to the tree.
